I'm back in the US!

Despite some air turbulence leaving Miami from Hurricane Irene, I arrived safely into Arlington, VA on Thursday afternoon. As I write this, I am currently bunkered down in my friend Irene's apartment in Crystal City as the hurricane hits Ocean City, MD and starts to head up north. They say that the worse will hit us between midnight and 5am. While a lot of people have lost power, I think that it will be mostly those living along the coast. Thanks to Irene (my friend, not the hurricane), I have plenty of candles and flashlights just in case!

While I will have more reflections on my transition back in future blogposts, I will say that it has been WONDERFUL to start re-connecting with friends and enjoy the creature comforts of life in the U.S.!

Oh my...the lights in my apartment are starting to flicker, so I had better sign off and go find that flashlight!
